The Colorado Mesa University dance program offers a broad, liberal arts approach to the study of dance and movement. CMU’s BA in Dance curriculum is unique in that we offer a strong technical foundation across a variety of dance styles. Students develop versatility and an appreciation for historical roots and current trends in the field. Within a supportive learning community, students engage not only in rigorous technical training, but are also invited to explore creative experimentation and collaborative possibilities.
Coursework offerings: A variety of dance techniques, somatic practices, conditioning, movement analysis, dance history, choreography, pedagogy, dance company and experiential anatomy.
Program prepares students as: Performers, choreographers, teachers, studio owners, graduate students.

Academic Requirements for Bachelor of Arts in DanceThe theatre department offers an array of dance styles, performance opportunities and travel. Students can study and learn modern, jazz, ballet and tap and each are offered from beginning to professional levels. Other courses include composition, improvisation, pedagogy, history, music analysis, healthy dancer and repertory performance.

All incoming freshmen or transfer students must audition to be considered for scholarships and to gain admission into the Bachelor of Arts program for Dance.
